Featuring Indigi-Dance On Screen artists Amelia Jean O'Leary, Jeanette Kotowich, Ngaire Lyden-Elleray, Katina Olsen and Raven Spirit Dance; co-hosted by O.Dela Arts' Artistic Associates Samantha Sutherland & Sophie Dow. We're excited to offer this free online event for all to experience.

Presented with Working class, Bella Waru, the choreographer of TOA III, leads a dance class exploring Waru's personal movement strategies, choreographic ideas. the training and exercises specific to building the world of TOA III. Informed by land and animal study and their training in a combination of contemporary, cultural dance and movement techniques, this class will be high energy and filled with play!
In celebration of the transmission of culture across generations, we gather in circle to share stories of resilience and accounts of how our dances have the power to transform and uplift our spirits. Join host Olivia C. Davies in this circle conversation with choreographers Lara Kramer, Starr Muranko, Sophie Dow, Samantha Sutherland, Christine Friday and Bella Waru as we speak our truth and celebrate Indigenous contemporary dance. This event is catered by the team catering at the Vancouver Aboriginal Friendship Centre Society lead by Chef Heat Laliberte.

Led by the performers of TOA III, this workshop gives participants an introduction to the traditional practice of Mau Rākau. Anchored in the unique philosophy and values of Te Ao Māori & the teachings of Te Whare Tū Taua o Aotearoa, participants will learn footwork, stances, language and weaponry basics. All welcome, rākau provided.
Christine Friday leads a contemporary dance workshop including freestyle improvisational techniques to support the participant's connection and expression of storytelling. Everyone welcome.

Presented with Working Class, Living Landscapes is about building relationships, relationships of our body with objects, text/word, textures, sound, land, and the varying visual registers that give space to forms of animacy. Activating, responding, discovering, and listening to the multitude of voices is at the heart of this exploration.
The public is invited to witness the DTES Grandmothers Collective's final day of residency for a movement and story-weaving improvised performance and conversation. Hosted by Olivia C. Davies, co-created in collaboration with Rosemary Georgeson, Sharon Jinkerson-Brass, Melissa Matheson-Frost, Sophie Dow, Rianne Švelnis, Savannah Walling and Ziyian Kwan.
Starr leads an introductory workshop for all levels of experience focusing on connecting more deeply with your body and breath while finding your natural movement expression. Class will consist of a basic warm-up, exercises across the floor and movement exploration drawing on themes of land, place and identity. Everyone welcome.
